Community Events in Douglas and Eastern Wyoming



The Douglas Special Olympics "Moustache Dash" 5K run and walk is Saturday, April 18th, 9am at the Douglas Middle School soccer fields. The course follows the trail along the river and through the business park. Entry is $25 for adults and $15 for kids. Proceeds benefit the local Douglas Special Olympics team. Grow a 'Stache, Do the 'Dasche, and Make A Difference for Special Olympics. Call Tom at 358-5250 for more information.


Douglas area veterans are invited to a special service session at the Samuel Mares American Legion Post 8, 6th and Oak in Douglas. National and state teams from The American Legion will join with members of local American Legion posts to kick off this community and veteran service campaign. Membership and veteran information will be available on Wednesday and Thursday, April 22nd and 23rd from 10 am to 5 pm, and on Friday, April 24th from 10 am to 3 pm. Veterans Service Officers will also be available for all area veterans with claims or other veteran-related questions all three days.


The Converse County Coalition Against Violence is looking for volunteers. You can help by being a volunteer advocate, work in the office, court watch, be a shelter mentor or help with fundraising. Training is free. For more information, call the Coalition office at 358-6148.
