Community Events in Douglas and Eastern Wyoming


An organizational meeting for Spring CoEd Volleyball will be held on Thursday, January 29th, 7pm, at the Douglas Rec Center. Registration begins on Monday, February 2nd, and games begin on Wednesday, March 4th. Registration fee is $50 dollars per team. Call the Douglas Rec at 358-4231 for more information.


Don't let the high cost of medical bills affect your livelihood; get the right health coverage that meets you and your families' needs. To get information and education about the new Affordable Care Act and how you can save money on insurance through healthcare.gov marketplace attend an Enroll Wyoming access event on Monday, February 2nd, 10AM at the Douglas Senior Center, and 1:30pm at the Glenrock Senior Center. Don't let medical costs beat you up, get covered and enjoy a healthy life!


Beginning Experience of Wyoming is a weekend program that offers healing and renewal to divorced, widowed and separated men and women. This non-profit, faith pased program will be offered in Douglas on February 6th, 7th and 8th. Cost is $150 dollars, which includes, meals, sleeping arrangements and materials. Scholarships are available. For more information, call Curtis at 463-2677.


There is a growing need in Douglas to provide emergency housing for families and individuals that find themselves without a place to sleep at night. A local group is interested in creating a program that would provide emergency, short term housing resources in Douglas. There will be a community meeting with Donna Lawson, a representative from Family Promise, on Tuesday, February 3rd at 7pm at First United Methodist Church at 136 S 5th Street in Douglas. If you are interested in participating, we would love for you to join us!


The Converse County Coalition Against Violence is looking for volunteers. You can help by being a volunteer advocate, work in the office, court watch, be a shelter mentor or help with fundraising. Training is free. For more information, call the Coalition office at 358-6148.
