Community Events in
Douglas and Eastern Wyoming
A Benefit Dinner and
Silent Auction will be held for Cathy
Huser on Saturday, March 16th from 5 to
7pm at the Old Glendo Fire Hall. They'll be
serving roast beef, baked potato, green beans, a
roll, dessert and drink, and there'll be lots of
silent auction items. All donations would be
appreciated. The benefit is hosted by the Glendo
Volunteer Fire Department and Thrivent.
The Wyoming Game and
Fish Department plans a public meeting
and a series of open houses to address proposals
for the 2013 hunting seasons for big
game, small game, game birds, waterfowl, and
bison. The department will present proposals for
hunting seasons in the Casper Region at a public
meeting 7 p.m. Mon., March 25, at the
Casper Game and Fish office. The agency plans the
following open houses: Newcastle: 7-9 p.m. Tues.,
March 26, at the USDA Forest Service office.
Douglas: 6-8 p.m. Wed., March 27, in the
basement of the Converse County Courthouse. Lusk:
5-7 p.m. Thurs., March 28, at the Town
of Lusk Council Chambers.
Deadline for Douglas Baseball/Softball
registration for ages 9 and up is Friday, April
5th. Sign up at the rec center, or call the Rec
at 358-4231 for more information.
The Converse County
Extension Office would like to invite
ladies involved in Agriculture to be a part of a
unique program made especially for them. Annies
Project is a six week program that
includes brief presentations and discussion
focused on issues that Agriculture Women face
almost every day. Classes begin on April 16
at 11:00-2:00 and will be held at the Converse
County Courthouse Community Room. Please register
by calling the Converse County Extension office
at 358-2417 by April 9. Class size is limited.
Fund raising for Annies Project is
underway. Ladies of Converse County are raffling
off a beautiful quilt. Tickets are 1 for $1 or 6
for $5 and can be purchased at the Prairie
Stitcher, where the quilt is displayed, or at the
Converse County Extension Office.
The King's Portion
Food Pantry is officially open!!! We are
open every Saturday from 1p-3p, come see
what we have for you. The King's Portion Food
Pantry is located inside the Douglas Mini Mall at
126 North 3rd Street. Call Sheila @ 359-9158 for

The Cottonwood Garden
Club invites you to join them for a more
Beautiful Douglas. The Cottonwood Garden Club
plants and maintains flowers around the
community, including at City Hall and the Gazebo
at the golf course, holds garden tours and has
educational speakers at meetings. The Cottonwood
Garden Club meets at 12 noon on the third
Thursday of each month at First United
Methodist Church, 5th & Oak in Douglas.

The Converse County
Coalition Against Violence
is looking for volunteers. You can help by being
a volunteer advocate, work in the office, court
watch, be a shelter mentor or help with
fundraising. Training is free. For more

new board members to guide the nonprofit organization
into the future. Were looking for people
with a commitment to their communities. Skills in
